Immerse yourself in the ‘wild’ landscapes of Menorca island and the Mediterranean.

Attune to the environment and wisdom traditions that reconnect you to your most radiant, authentic self.

Unwind and get deeply acquainted with your inner nature in this 6-day, 5-night yoga, meditation & hiking retreat on Menorca island, a UNESCO biosphere reserve in the Mediterranean waters of Spain. This unique time will be dedicated to perspective shifting practices, whether we are basking in a sense of awe from our natural surroundings, or immersing ourselves in the profound techniques and philosophies that bring us beyond the dramas of daily life to the deep well of wisdom within. It is from this place that we are empowered to move forward with clarity, ease, and purpose: the ability to align our actions with our highest intentions and the greater good.

Each morning we’ll practice yoga (embodied movement, breathwork & meditation) in a covered outdoor yoga space overlooking the olive groves. In the late afternoons a nourishing, restorative practice complete with nature-inspired yoga nidra will be on offer. In between, you’ll be free to relax by the pool, explore the grounds and nearby paths and coves, or venture out to discover one of Menorca´s secrets. Group hikes to experience the island’s diverse and breath-taking landscapes and phenomena, and other optional excursions will be offered throughout the week.

Situated on a regenerative 30 acre olive oil farm, our retreat takes place on one of Menorca’s oldest properties offering rural tranquility, charm, and a chance to soak up the unhurried nature of island life. The famed on-site restaurant, a destination all its own, sources home-grown produce and local meat & seafood to create a truly elegant experience. It’s an unbeatable location just a short walk away to stunning sunrises overlooking the Mediterranean and the island’s signature coastal footpaths.

Hiking in Menorca

Our venue for the week is situated just minutes walking from the water as well as Menorca’s signature ancient stone path (the ‘Cami de Cavalls’) that encircles the island and connects myriad ‘calas’ or hidden, pristine coves.

The island’s landscape vary widely from coast to coast: from long white beaches and dramatic white cliffs dotted with green pines overlooking crystalline blue water in the south to the craggy surfaces and diverse textures of the eastern coastline where Spain’s earliest sunrises can be witnessed. We will sample a variety to get an authentic sense of Menorca’s wild spirit.

Menorca’s famous saying is poc a poc or “little by little.” Our hikes will be mindfully paced and oriented toward presence and wonder with every step through the island’s natural richness.

Nonetheless, travelers are recommended to bring sturdy footwear, 1L water bottles, a small backpack (to carry belongings and picnic lunches) and expect plenty of sun exposure and and some portions of rocky, uneven terrain even on the gentlest hikes. Hikes will be tailored to the level of the group, but more challenging paths as well as alternate beaches throughout the island can be suggested to those who prefer to explore on their own.

Cassandra Ferland has been a 500-hr Yoga Alliance certified teacher since 2008, in the ISHTA lineage (Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda). A lifelong student, she has taken countless workshops and trainings, and practiced and learned from a plethora of renowned teachers, including Ram Dass, Alan+Sarah Finger, Maty Ezrahy, and Elena Brower. She has advanced training in Restorative, Yoga Nidra, Pre/Postnatal, Injury Management, Yoga for Seniors, Trauma Informed Yoga, Children's Yoga, and more.

Known for challenging classes and creative sequencing, she encourages experimentation within the safe container of embodied movement and alignment-based instruction. You will find breath work, meditation, and philosophy an integral part of her offerings. She has been a lead teacher in 200 and 300-hr Teacher Trainings since 2013, and trained many teachers in her specialty training, The Art and Science of Working with Private Clients.

Enamored with travel, Cassandra sees it as a potent practice of ‘dancing with spirit’ as we work to let go of our best-laid plans and gracefully maneuver the unexpected. For the last 15 years, Cassandra has led annual yoga retreats in places like Portugal, Finland, Jamaica, or Holbox island, Mexico. A deep current under it all is her intention is to hold space for students to shake off their regular life patterns and immerse themselves in the practices that enable them to step into each moment as conscious co-creators of their reality. What inspires her practice, her teaching, and her retreats is the same: space.  The creation of space to gain perspective, to find balance, and to reconnect with the joy and beauty of moving through life.

Grace Gu, PhD

A yoga practitioner of 16 years who discovered the power of meditation only in the last few, Grace is passionate about making the practice accessible and effective for all students seeking deep peace, inner knowing and a more connected way of being. Inspired by modern neuroscience and ancient philosophy alike, her classes weave body, breath and the contemplative effects of nature to invite those (like herself) who struggle to find stillness to come to the mat and cushion.

An anthropologist by training, Grace is particularly curious about how we experience meditation and its ability to transform the quality and trajectory of our lives. Informed by her own search for self across multiple careers, communities and places, she is passionate about sharing a practice that helps others access their purpose, intuition and highest intentions for a better world. An honorary Spaniard who has lived in and traveled throughout the country, Grace is particularly inspired by the soulful landscapes, deep tranquility and patient, nature-loving ethos of Menorca.

Grace holds her 500 Hr certification and has completed advanced training in Restorative, Yoga Nidra and Meditation from ISHTA Yoga in New York City. She has studied with Alan and Sarah Finger, Peter Ferko, Mona Anand and Cassandra Ferland since 2009.
